What was AI CON 2019 about?

The Bosch Center for Artificial Intelligence (BCAI) and the Cyber Valley research alliance organize the annual AI conference at the Bosch research campus in Renningen. The Bosch AI CON 2019 took place on October 29 and brought together over 300 AI experts from academia and industry focusing on the topic “Industrial AI”, the implementation of machine learning methods in products and applications.

The conference program featured keynotes from Michael Bolle (formerly Bosch CTO/CDO), Max Welling (Professor Machine Learning, University of Amsterdam, Board ELLIS) and other speakers from renown institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University, Max Planck Institute and ETH Zurich.

Besides that, various industrial AI projects were presented in the exhibition area and a Poster Session with international abstracts took place. The award for the best poster went to Markus Lange-Hegermann from the Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe for his poster “Priors for Linear Differential Equations”.

Young Researcher Award

Bosch YRA

Bosch awarded the Bosch AI Young Researcher Award for significant research achievements in the field of AI contributing to making AI safe, robust and explainable. The award and €50,000 prize money went to Dr. Gergely Neu from the University of Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona for his work in Reinforcement Learning.

National School Competition in AI

Participants of the first AI school competition presented their projects during AI CON 2019. The competition is initiated by the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems and the University of Tübingen and supported by Bosch as main sponsor.
